Anand Kumar is an Indian mathematician and educator best known for providing free coaching to economically underprivileged students for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (I.I.T.s) through his Super 30 program. Anand Kumar was born on January 1, 1973, in Patna, Bihar, India. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Patna University and pursued higher studies in Mathematics at Cambridge University, U.K. However, he had to cut short his studies and return to India due to financial constraints.
In 2002, Anand Kumar started the Super 30 program, which provides free coaching and accommodation to 30 underprivileged students every year, selected through a rigorous screening process to prepare them for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to the I.I.T.s. Over the years, the Super 30 program has achieved remarkable success, with almost all its students securing access to the I.I.T.s.

Sudha Murthy
